The new Sun Yat-sen University  was built in Oct. 2001, merging officially the original Sun Yat-sen University  and Sun Yat-sen Medical University. Based on the policy of Educational Ministry to “ Execute high-tech industrialized project in the University, promote the development of national high-tech, and contribute to fostering new economic increase”, the new Sun Yat-sen University was developed into the Guangzhou Zhong Da Industry Group was established. After incorporating the original Zhong Da Development Group and original Sun Yat-sen Medical University  Industry Group Co. Ltd., in Sep. 2003, the Group was officially named as Guangzhou Zhong Da Industry  Group Co. Ltd.
